Design Impact is looking for self-motivated, multi-skilled designers who genuinely want to work full-time in Indian communities affected by poverty. But, we aren’t just looking for great designers; we are looking for great organizers, communicators, and relationship builders. We need individuals that can quickly adapt to new environments, demonstrate the value of design in the social sector, lead diverse teams, and constantly improve their own process

The initial application is easy—just a detailed letter of intent and current resume. The application period closes on February 28th and the ten month Fellowship commences on July 1st, 2012!

DETAILS:

Minimum requirements include:
+ 3 years (experience) working in the field of design
+ Bachelor’s degree in design or related field (art, engineering, marketing, non-profit management, business, planning)
+ Strong communication skills, positive attitude, highly curious and desiring to work with people from various backgrounds, cultures, and income-levels
+ English language fluency
+ Spoken Hindi/Gujarati/Kanada a plus
+ Self-motivation, performing with minimal supervision, exercising good judgment and decision-making as needed
+ A laptop computer and thorough knowledge of relevant software (Adobe Suite, CAD, Microsoft Office, etc.)
+ 2 years project management preferred

Project Areas:
+ Design of a nutrition program delivery in Pune slums
+ Design of student centered educational software and programs
+ Design of healthcare delivery services in Mumbai slums
+ Design of water treatment and delivery systems in rural areas (Gujarat/Karnataka)
+ Design of labor reducing bicycle technologies for rural users.
+ Design of cookstove for reduced carbon emissions

Fellows cost of living, travel, and health are fully covered. In addition, Fellows receive a monthly stipend of $300 during the fellowship.

Wednesday, 29 February 2012 Sábados de voluntariado no Patacão – próximo sábado, dia 25 de Fevereiro

No âmbito do projeto  da Cultura Avieira, a Associação AIDA vem convidar os Arquitetos Sem Fronteiras a participar em mais uma ação de voluntariado para limpeza das casas palafíticas na aldeia do Patacão. Esta é uma das aldeias mais emblemáticas da Cultura Avieira, cujo abandono permitiu preservar a tipologia original e singular, assente sobre estacaria e acesso por uma plataforma “ponte”, de ligação ao valado.

Os trabalhos decorrerão no próximo dia 25 de Fevereiro, a partir das 9h00 da manhã. Para os interessados que preferirem, os ASFP organizam transporte a partir de Santarém.
